In the past few months damage has been caused to the hedges around the playing field, and a play camp has been made in one area. This camp has caused considerable damage and the hedging has been cut dangerously in places – sharp spikes were left and a child could have been seriously injured had they fallen on them. Branches from the trees that were cut back were used to build up the camp, and a saw must have been used to do this. A platform was made that was resting on the chain link fence between the playing field and the Stone Barn and has caused damage to it.
Children were seen removing items from the barn yard in order to use them for the camp. This is not acceptable, the yard is not a play area but a privately rented business facility. The camp was removed as soon as it was found as it was considered unsafe. This was at a cost to the Charity.
The Charity would ask that parents speak to their children and advise them that the area is not suitable for building camps and to refrain from doing so, and to remind children that the yard attached to the Stone Barn is a private area and they should not enter.
